Session I - Impact of the Trump Administrationís Asia Policy

The conference will begin with a wide-ranging discussion on the Trump Administrationís current and future policies in Asia, bringing in a variety of regional perspectives. The conversation will include the potential impact of those policies on Taiwan defense affairs in the short, medium, and long term.

Session II - Threat & Response: Traditional Domains

The Taiwan threat landscape is ever evolving. The panelists in this session will examine ways that Taiwan can meet that threat, exposing and exploiting weaknesses in its opponent to craft the response. This session will be focused on the traditional domains of Air, Land, and Sea.

Session IV - Implications for the Defense Industry in Taiwan

Following on the discussions on threats and responses, this session will examine the implications for the indigenous defense industry in Taiwan. The discussion will include emerging capabilities of Taiwan companies in the defense sector, and how U.S. companies can work in partnership with Taiwan industry players on developing competency in both hardware and in services such as life cycle support and training.

Session V - Implications for the Defense Industry in the U.S.

The final conference session will provide a follow-up discussion focused on the implications of threats and potential responses for U.S. defense companies active in Taiwan. Panelists will examine how U.S. companies view Taiwanís defense needs and possible responses to its current threat landscape, how U.S. companies can help Taiwan exploit any identified weaknesses, and the U.S. defense industry view of the best strategic focus for the Taiwan defense community.
