On June 22, 2026, US-Taiwan Business Council (USTBC) President Rupert Hammond-Chambers spoke at “Taiwan’s Strategic Outlook and the Future of US-Taiwan Relations,” an event and panel discussion hosted by the Foreign Policy Research Institute (FPRI) in New York, New York.
Mr. Hammond-Chambers was joined by Ambassador Tom Chih-Chiang Lee, the Director-General of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in New York; Aaron Stein, President of FPRI; Shihoko Goto, Director of the Asia Program at FPRI; Chris Estep, Non-Resident Fellow in the Asia Program at FPRI; and Vincent Wei-Cheng Wang, Dean and Professor of Political Science at Adelphi University.
In announcing the event, FPRI said:
The latest summit meeting between the leaders of the United States and the People’s Republic of China has renewed debate about strategic competition, diplomatic bargaining, deterrence, and the future of cross-strait stability. Questions surrounding Taiwan’s international space, defense posture, economic resilience, and the broader regional architecture remain central to policymakers across the Indo-Pacific and beyond.
Join the Foreign Policy Research Institute’s Asia Program for a conversation about Taiwan’s strategic options in an increasingly contested regional environment and the economic as well as technological roadmap to secure Taiwan’s resilience.
The US-Taiwan Business Council thanks FPRI for including us in this important and timely discussion.
