On June 30, 2021, Council President Rupert Hammond-Chambers spoke at a virtual webcast, “Economic Competitiveness: Chips and Innovation,” hosted by the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Chicago and Crain’s Content Studio as part of the Taiwan-U.S. Business Forum in the Midwest.

In announcing the event, Crain’s said:

Economic Competitiveness: Chips and Innovation: The global shortage of microchips (semiconductors), which are key elements in consumer electronic goods, automobiles, and a multitude of products, is a major current economic challenge. In this webcast, hear from key representatives from Taiwan, area manufacturing and local and state government who will discuss how the Midwest and Taiwan can play a role as allies in trade and in building a diverse and resilient supply chain for the U.S.

The Council thanks TECO Chicago and Crain’s for the invitation to participate in this webcast, and to co-sponsor the event.
