Press Release:
The US-Taiwan Business Council Welcomes Mei-Yueh Ho, National Policy Advisor to the Taiwan President, to the U.S.-Taiwan Business Forum

(Arlington, Virginia, June 20, 2017)

The US-Taiwan Business Council today thanks Mei-Yueh Ho, National Policy Advisor to Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen, and the delegation of senior Taiwan business leaders for their participation in the U.S.-Taiwan Business Forum on June 19, 2017 in Washington, D.C.

The Council also wishes to thank the more than 40 high-level representatives from U.S. companies and national trade & industry associations who attended and participated at the Forum, as well as the several distinguished panelists who agreed to make brief remarks at the event. Thank you also to Matthew Pottinger, Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for Asia at the National Security Council, for his participation.

The Forum brought together a total of more than 100 business leaders from Taiwan and the United States to examine the future of our bilateral economic relationship, and to discuss consolidating the economic and industrial partnership between the U.S. and Taiwan. The participants exchanged views on issues central to the U.S.-Taiwan business and economic relationship, including the impact of our economic partnership on competitiveness and job creation, and examined how to strengthen industrial partnerships and connectivity in the global supply chain. The attendees also held sector-specific discussions on ICT, smart machinery, advanced materials, biotech, energy, and chemicals.

Council President Rupert Hammond-Chambers noted, “This annual Forum examines the important role that Taiwan plays in the global economy, as well as the close relationship between the U.S. and Taiwan business communities. The significant business and commercial relationship between the U.S. and Taiwan is a crucial piece of the overall bilateral relationship, and the Forum allows us to explore ways to deepen cooperation, establish new relationships between businesses, and encourage action on bilateral, multilateral, and global trade issues.”
