Media Mention: Council President Interview with Voice of America (VOA)

March 2, 2023

US-Taiwan Business Council President Rupert Hammond-Chambers appeared on “Voice of America” on March 2, 2023. The interview was in in response to China’s disapproval of a recent $619 million potential arms sale to Taiwan. He commented on the potential of a Chinese blockade of Taiwan.

The trade lobby group, US-Taiwan Business Council, says that the Administration is trying to build munitions stocks in case of a Chinese blockade of the island.

“Taiwan has to be supplied through the air or the sea. If the PLA is disrupting access through the air or sea, it’s problematic to provide munitions. So we have to preposition as much we possibly can on the island.”
